About this product
Change a wheel without a wheel brace and a lot of swearing.
An electric hydraulic jack, an electric wrench and a tyre pump in one case, rated to 3 tonnes and running off the car's own power.
Changing a wheel at the roadside is a job most drivers can do and very few want to. The hard parts are the wheel nuts and the jack.
This kit powers both. An electric hydraulic jack lifts the car, an electric wrench undoes the nuts, and a pump puts air in the spare if it needs it.
It connects directly to the car battery with clamps, or through the dashboard 12V socket, so it needs nothing but the vehicle it is fitted to.
The wrench comes with two reversible sockets covering 17mm, 19mm, 21mm and 23mm wheel nuts, which is most common UK cars.
It is rated to 3 tonnes. Check your vehicle's kerb weight and the wheel nut size against those figures before you order.
The scissor jack and brace that came with your car will change a wheel. They are chosen to be cheap and small, not to be pleasant to use, and a wheel nut tightened by an air gun at a tyre depot is genuinely hard to shift by hand.
An electric wrench removes that fight entirely. It also removes the temptation to stand on the brace, which is how people hurt themselves and round off nuts.
The jack is hydraulic and powered, so the car comes up in about a minute without you crouching beside it working a handle. On a wet verge that is a meaningful difference.
The pump matters more than it looks. Spare wheels lose pressure sitting in a boot for years, and a space saver at the wrong pressure is not a safe thing to drive on.
Safety still comes from technique, not the tool. Use the jacking points in your handbook, work on firm level ground, apply the handbrake, chock a wheel at the opposite corner, and never put any part of yourself under a car held up by a jack alone.
Still deciding?
Not sure yet? That is fine.
You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.
If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

The complete guide
Changing a wheel safely
5 min readOnline Auto Company
Before you lift anything
Get the car somewhere firm and level. A jack on a soft verge or a slope is the single most common cause of a car coming off one.
Apply the handbrake, put the car in gear or in park, and switch the engine off.
Chock a wheel at the opposite corner to the one you are changing if you have anything to chock it with.
If you are on a motorway, get everyone behind the barrier and call for assistance instead. Changing a wheel on a hard shoulder is not worth the risk.
Find the jacking points
Cars have designated jacking points, usually reinforced sections of sill marked with a notch or an arrow.
Your handbook shows them. Lifting anywhere else can bend a sill, crack a plastic undertray or let the car slip off the jack.
Loosen before you lift
Slacken the wheel nuts while the wheel is still on the ground and taking weight.
If you try to undo them with the wheel in the air, the wheel simply turns.
A quarter turn on each nut is enough at this stage.
Lifting
Raise the car until the tyre is just clear of the ground, and no higher. A car lifted higher than it needs to be is less stable.
Never put any part of your body under a car supported only by a jack. If you need to get underneath, use axle stands.
Swapping the wheel
Take the nuts off, keep them somewhere they cannot roll away, and lift the wheel clear.
Fit the spare, then run the nuts on finger tight in a star pattern rather than going round in a circle. That pulls the wheel on squarely.
Lowering and finishing
Lower the car until the tyre takes weight, then tighten the nuts fully in the same star pattern.
Check the spare's pressure with the pump. A space saver usually runs at a higher pressure than a normal tyre and has a speed limit printed on it, commonly 50 mph.
Have the nuts torque checked, and get the punctured tyre repaired or replaced promptly. A space saver is a get you home item, not a tyre.
